Kids recipe – Clean ice magic – gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, clean and paleo friendly.
It hasn’t been an easy week for me since Pooshie was put to sleep. In fact it’s been hard to keep a smiling face at work and get on with things. I’ve even done my best to avoid going home after work all week but it’s the weekend now and I have to stay put and get some rest. I’ve stored Pooshie’s bowl and favourite brush away till I can bear to look at them again and yesterday I picked her ashes up from the vet. I plan to scatter them at the half way point between my current house and the house she first grew up in just down the road.
Today’s recipe is a cleaned up version of an old favourite – Ice Magic. Do you remember growing up on the stuff? I used to slather it all over my ice cream and was always fascinated at how quickly it turned hard. However, if you take a close look at the ingredients, it’s full of toxic crap which includes:
Vegetable Oils, Sugar, Cocoa Powder (9%), Skim Milk Powder, Emulsifier (471), Flavours.
Compare that to my nutrient dense version which has only 3 ingredients (4 if you include the optional vanilla extract) They are:
Raw cacao powder
Now when your kids have a craving for ice magic you can slather it on and not worry – how good is that?
The magic ingredient that makes the mixture go hard is coconut oil. You can double or triple the recipe, store it in a plastic (BPA free) squeezy bottle and store in the fridge. When it’s time to use it, place the bottle in hot water. The ingredients will melt and you are ready to pour!
Have a lovely Sunday.
Love, Tash x
