Chocolate cashew milk smoothie – gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, vegan, vegetarian, clean and paleo friendly.
So for day 3 of my cashew recipe obsession I thought it only fair that I turn my previous cashew milk recipe into a delicious chocolate cashew milk smoothie. Perfect for a big hit of so-good-for-you energy first thing in the morning or to fuel your brain while studying (great if you don’t have time to cook or want something sweet) or a post workout pick me up, there’s no reason not to give this a try. It’s 100 % healthy and so creamy, delicious and filling.
I dedicate this recipe to my sister Claudia who spends a lot of time studying (and has a big sweet tooth) and has been known to grab a chocolate bar or 2 to fuel up on. We all know the effects such bars can have on us (sugar crash anyone?) or how we become hungry again pretty soon. This shake will give you a sustained feeling of fullness and energy for your brain cells.
If you haven’t had the chance to soak your cashews overnight or make your milk already, you can pour boiled water over your cashews at the same time as your dates and they will both be ready for blitzing at the same time. If you don’t have any dates, you can add the extra sweetness by adding the other 1/2 banana or drizzle in some rice malt syrup or sweetener of choice.
Why this is so good for you
Cashews reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, help prevent gallstones, help prevent macular degeneration, reduce the risk of colon cancer, increase immunity and reduce the risk of stroke.
Dates create healthy bowel movement, strengthen bones, decrease feelings of fatigue and sluggishness, support the nervous system and reduce the risk of stroke and other heart related illnesses.
Raw cacao powder protects against aging and cancer, improves digestion, give energy, improves mood, lowers blood pressure and increases circulation.
Bananas help combat depression, build strong bones, strengthen the nervous system, protect against type 2 diabetes, lower blood pressure, strengthen your blood, help regulate bowel movement, provide relief from acid reflux and heartburn and help prevent kidney cancer.
Chia seeds are good for healthy hair, skin and nails, regulate bowel function, protect the body from aging and cancer, regulate insulin levels, prevent hypertension and help detoxify the body.
Himalayan salt contains all of the 84 elements found in your body. It is anti aging, increases hydration, promotes blood sugar health, prevents muscle cramping, strengthens bones, lowers blood pressure, improves circulation, helps expel toxins from the body, helps reduce acid reflux and helps the intestines absorb nutrients.
